Year 10 Literature Book Club
What? An opportunity for each student to recommend a book to the class
When? At the start of each double lesson – once per fortnight
How? In each Book Club session, three students (plus me usually!) recommend a book to the rest of the class. I keep a list in our OneNote and I keep it up to date by adding each new recommendation. I also put the book up on the screen (from an internet search) so the class can see the book cover and summary / reviews of the book. The person recommending it tells us why they think it is worth reading. Every member of the class has to have at least one turn at recommending a book.
Why? It promotes reading and reminds us all how great reading is! It means that if anyone in the class is ever searching for a book to read, they can go onto the OneNote and browse all the recommendations to see what jumps out. We have complied quite a list over the year!
