What is Harmony Week?
This week we’re celebrating Harmony Week by collaborating with the Mount Alvernia Arts Department and creating a student display with the help of homerooms on Tuesday, 21st March.
What is Harmony Week?
“Harmony Week is a celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone” (Australian Government, 2019).
Similar to the values involved in Harmony Week our Franciscan values at Mt Alvernia College promote inclusiveness, respect and care for all:
We are called to be a Community of Care by:
- Promoting positive human relationships and respect for the dignity of each person; and
- Welcoming and supporting those whose life circumstances present special challenges (Mount Alvernia College, 2023).
We invite all students and staff to pop into the iCentre to enjoy the homeroom display and to browse some of the great ‘Harmony Week Reads,’ chosen by our iCentre staff.
