The 1000 Cranes Project

Date Published: 14/10/2019

Begun in July 2018, the 1000 Cranes Project was suggested by Melissa and Jessie McMurray who visited the iCentre once a week to demonstrate how to fold and make origami cranes. Students joined them and then home rooms became involved so that eventually 1700 cranes were made and ready for display.

Visit the iCentre and see the stunning display in the Camp Fire area and marvel at the size of the project that was achieved by everyone involved. If you are inspired you might like to borrow Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes to read.

1700 Cranes ready for display!
Many hands were involved in making the cranes

Based on a true story, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes celebrates the extraordinary courage that made one young woman a heroine in Japan.
