Term 1 Read Like a Girl Events

Date Published: 11/02/2019

We have some very exciting #RLaG events planned for Term 1 designed to help our girls to succeed by igniting a love of reading. Our focus this year is to Read Like a Girl Everyday as our own research has shown us that these literature promotion events hold great value for our girls’ academic outcomes.

Put these dates in your diary and join us for the following events.

Vardaesia Book Launch

Fans of Lynette Noni are invited to join us to celebrate the launch of the final book in The Medoran Chronicles

This is the first event in our calendar of book events for our Read Like a Girl program in 2019.  Riverbend Books will be joining us at the event to sell copies of Vardaesia, and Lynette will be available for signing books at the conclusion of formalities.

International Women's Day Literary Breakfast

It is with great pleasure that we invite students from Mt Alvernia College, together with their mother or significant women in their lives, to attend the College’s annual literary breakfast in celebration of International Women’s Day on Friday, March 8.

This year we are very excited that Fleur Ferris will join us as the keynote speaker at our International Women’s Day Breakfast.  Fleur’s books are consistently in the Top Ten Borrowed Books from the iCentre.  This very popular author writes crime/thriller novels for Young Adult readers.  For the first twenty years of her working life, Fleur worked as a police officer and then a paramedic. Fleur’s colourful and diverse background has given her unique insight into today’s society and an endless pool of experiences to draw from.  Her novels include Risk, Black, Found and Wreck.
