The Office of the eSafety Commissioner is a valuable government resource which is committed to helping all Australians have safe, positive experiences online by providing the opportunity for everyone to stay up to date with online issues, new resources, and the latest research. As a one-stop-shop for online safety, the Office a highly recommended resource for both our students and parents.
Recently, the Office offered advice for parents about the second Netflix series of the cult hit 13 Reasons Why. The content of the first series sparked concern from mental health experts, and after the Office reached out to them with these concerns, the Netflix team has collaborated with leading Australian mental health organisations Headspace and Everymind, to develop support materials for young people to access once season 2 of 13 Reasons Why airs in Australia.
This show is rated MA for mature audiences, it covers many issues including depression, sexual assault and suicide. If you are struggling, this series may not be right for you or you may want to watch it with a trusted adult.
