NCACL Diversity Database

Date Published: 22/07/2019

A new database, the NCACL Diversity Database, aims to highlight diverse children’s literature making it easier for teachers, parents and readers to find these books. By reading such books, it makes students more culturally aware and the classroom more inclusive.

Users of the database can search for key concepts, including cultural identity, traditions, migration, and language.

Research has suggested that diversity in literature leads to improved literacy outcomes, as when children see themselves reflected in books they find reading more enjoyable.

What better reason to explore the database and connect your students with culturally diverse stories.
