Holidays are meant for reading!  We’ve got plenty of recommendations for our younger readers to add to their holiday reading lists and to borrow in whatever format they prefer – book, ebook or audio – depending on availability.

We have reviewed some of the best new books to have been recently published and we’re sure you will enjoy them. Click on the Graphic Book Reviews below for guidance.

We also have a book review from one of our avid readers who highly recommends the following novel for holiday reading.

Esme’s Wish by Elizabeth Foster – Review by Sophie Mitchell Yr 8

Each time I closed Esme’s Wish, I was left wondering what would happen next.

I love how there is a mixture of a whole new fantasy world and ancient Greek history – I’ve never read anything like this splendidly original novel

Although it is quite an easy read, the mystery of what happened to Esme’s (pronounced ehz-mee) mum kept me intrigued.

At the end of every page, one tiny word or phrase swung the plot around, bringing a whole new light – sometimes good, sometimes bad – to the storyline.

I really, really, REALLY hope there will be a sequel; a book cannot end this way!!!!!!
