Three students in Year 9 have embarked on a journey to the Kennedy Space Centre by participating in the Conrad Challenge for 2018/2019. The Conrad Challenge is open to students all around the world, aged 13 to 18. The competition consists of three rounds, with the third round hosted by the Kennedy Space Centre and requires competitors to pitch to real investors.
Jillian Effeney, Sneha Reju, and Hannah Schaper were inspired to participate after meeting past winner, Khushi Salet at the It Takes a Spark, STEAM Conference held at Mount Alvernia College on Ekka Wednesday this year. They have asked Mrs. Krystal Gagen-Spriggs to be their coach and have chosen the Environment and Energy category.
The students have designed a product to assist with managing water wastage, called Digi Drop. They were required to submit a one minute video for round one, and we are very excited to announce that we have progressed to round two! Next up is a business model and a three-minute video due early next year.
We wish the girls all the best and look forward to seeing how they go.
