Book of the Week

Date Published: 05/08/2019

Love Your Body was written by Melbourne social worker Jess Sanders to empower girls, many of whom struggle today with society’s unrealistic expectations of ‘beauty’, to develop a positive body image.

The book aims to encourage girls to see their bodies for what they can do rather than what they look like, and it introduces the language of self-love and self-care to help them build resilience.

Body positivity is portrayed as accepting, respecting and loving your body as it is, and the illustrations by Carol Rossetti show a very diverse group of young people who celebrate their bodies and their uniqueness as they move through life.

This book is a valuable resource for all girls who deserve to be equipped with the tools to navigate an image-obsessed world.
